Well, our "environmentally conscious" governement are pushing forward regulations to force councils to build on greenbelt land and even areas of outstanding natural beauty.

The sooner Brown and his environmental terrorists are ousted the better for the natural environment...

Without even going to the paper, I know about the demands being made and from a Beautiful part of Essex where I was born and being under constant threat.

Instead of keep building new places, why don't they demolish the slum and disused buildings that have been empty for years and use those sites, if they are so desperate. Take much more green belt away and we will lose it forever.

^ Because that would make sense and be the environmentally friendly option? The government only want to be green when they are taxing the public while they get off with doing whatever they feel like Evil or Very Mad

It was mainly because they ripped down our old town to build Basildon and there was a Mass of greenbelt there once, that we moved away. I just hope and pray that if they do build on the bit that is left, it is certainly not done in my time.

Our environmentally concious government just got ousted in the Glasgow East by election. To give you scale of the defeat, it was a 23% swing in the SNP's favour and Labour's safest seat!

Somehow I don't think they will change their policies though!

Monkeys are more likely to help themselves, so in turn the wildlife and environment, by default. I think you've hit on something here!

Yeah....monkeys like climbing trees so we'd have a tree-in-every-home policy which would help get the country replanted with plenty of trees... Laughing

Not so long back, plans were made to build over 1,000 houses here. This the part of Essex close to where I was born and wrote about above. By all accounts, the plan was revised to about 830, but that too got thrown out and mighty glad am I? Behind me is another Beauty spot and Bluebell wood not a mile away.

So am I as I visit at least once a year now and the above picture didn't really give the place the justice it deserves, because it was a bit 'untidy' then.
