Fossil remains of a huge snake that could have been up to 43 feet long have been discovered in Columbia. Titanoboa cerrejonensis is the largest snake know, dwarfing the current modern contenders that reach around 30 feet. It lived in tropical rainforest more than 60 million years ago.

I was watching a programme the other day though about the largest snakes currently alive and the amount of force these snakes can crush with - being constricted by one of the largest snakes would be the same pressure as having a bus pressing down on you! Can't imagine what force these giants could have had! |
Aww that is so sad that they are gone because it will be cool to actually see one alive :D well RIP Instinct snakes _________________

It has the large muscular body like our modern day Anaconda I would not be surprised if it is not the prehistoric cousin of the Anaconda. |

Yep it is. Our modern day Anaconda is reported to be the largest snake in the world (non poisionous) that is. There are reports of this snake reaching lengths of up to 40 feet. I do not know if this has ever been confirmed though. |
