I was utterly DISGUSTED to hear that a loyal, hard working, 5 year old police dog it TO BE PUT DOWN because he has retired from the force. The handlers family who care for him in his free time are willing to take him on yet the police authority want him put down! This is a dog that has CAUGHT DANEROUS CRIMINALS AND EVEN FOUND LOST CHILDREN! The LEAST he should be offered is a happy retirement!

Not as squeaky clean as they like you to think.......

They don't put down animals that they think will be difficult to rehome, if that's what you mean.
They have a "7 day death row" So animals who are still with them after 7 days, get put down.
This is a fact. Straight from the RSPCA themselves.

I've not supported the RSPCA in years, they are not what they make themselves out to be.
The inspectors are lovely but as usual, the powers that be that make the rules, they aint so nice. And they don't care as much as they make out. In fact, they can be quite harsh.
It's like a slap around the face really cause a lot of my pocket money went to the RSPCA when I was a kid!

Harsh about not taking in animals that they dont wanna take in.

Oh, and they like to take glory for things that they haven't necessarily done themselves.

They have certainly in the past made out like they have saved animals that they in fact have not, and therefore taken the glory and publicity if it got into the press.
And suddenly become very interested in taking in said animals, when they have said that they do not have the room, when they know the press are getting involved.

Maybe they didn't have enough room for them.

Unfortunately, shelters have to clean up the breeders' and pet stores' messes. They often become WAY over-crowded and are forced to euthanize many animals.

Of course, it'd be better if they just refused to take new ones in if they have to result to death, but they probably aren't going to do that.

I'm not saying they are good or anything, because I do not know them. I'm just thinking of how some other shelters are, at least around here, anyway. I am not defending them.
