Despite showing little interest in mating with the two females in his pn for the last 36 years, Lonesome George the last of the Galapagos tortoises from Pinta island has done the deed and one of the females has laid a clutch of eggs. Only time will tell if they are fertile and hold Georges offspring giving hope for the survival of the Pinta tortoise.
