Breeding seabirds will once again be vulnerable to drowning in fishermen's nets after a voluntary 2 week ban on fishing following a large number of birds drowning in Filey Bay close to the RSPB's Bempton Cliffs reserve. The birds become entangled in the nets while chasing the small fish they need to feed their hungry chicks and should a parent be killed it is likely that the chicks will starve to death.
