The Great Spotted Woodpecker was back today, so was the Goldfinches that I haven't seen for ages.
I don't think I've seen anywhere that has Greefinches as the most common bird, but believe me there is loads of them now!
It'll only get busier as the young start to emerge!
Buzzards were out and about as well. Didn't see them yesterday either.
The House Martins are being as attentive as ever. They still come in to the Signalbox every once in a while, but not nearly as much as they used to!

I'm starting to think that the Buzzard thinks he's a Crow! Yesterday I came across a mouldy slice of bread so I threw it out of the window knowing that the Crows would munch on it. Well I was right, a Crow came and took the whole thing and flew away, except the Buzzard had other ideas. It decided to steal the bread from the Crow in flight. I have no idea what the Buzzard would want with bread?!
Not much later the Crow had come to the table to steal nuts and seeds, when the Buzzard wanted some of the action! Again, why would the Buzzard bother with nuts and seeds?! Also, I noticed the Crows didn't give the Buzzard as much grief as they usually do with other Buzzards.
The House Martins are still attentive as ever and all the usual suspects are still visiting the feeder and with increased numbers!

Everything has so far been successful, apart from having to pick up a dead baby Greenfinch off the path after it blootered by a train.
I noticed there is more Goldfinches around when the Greenfinched aren't!
Also, yesterday the birds were making a huge commotion so I looked out the window to see why to find a Baby Buzzard siitting at the bird feeder. it was awesome.
Luckily, I found a Pet Warehouse in Laurencekirk, so I bought a huge bag of bird seed.

Have you thought about trying niger seed for the goldfinches (als popular with siskins)? Greenfinches being larger can stop other birds feeding while they are there but they don't eat the niger seed.
