Is the soap opera at Loch Garten returning for another year...

Female osprey EJ is back at her nest having made the migration from Africa where she spent the winter. Last year, she returned with her normal mate (Henry's) rival, VS producing a clutch of eggs with him that Henry threw from the nest. Later on in the season, all three of the chicks she had with Henry also died.

There is going to be a live WEBCAM going on air from Monday watching the events at the Loch Garten nest so we can see what the ospreys there are up to Mr. Green

They had three chicks hatch out but all died long before fledging.

Oh no...VS has been the first back yet again with no sign of Henry, EJ's usual mate (and reliable provider). As if to show how unreliable he is...VS caught a fish, returned it to the nest and gave it to another female!

EJ has laid her 3rd egg with VS making it a full clutch. So far he has been providing her with a steady supply of fish. No sign of Henry yet...maybe he won't be making a return this year...

There has been a lot going on at the nest over the last few days! EJ and OVS have had to drive off a rival pair of ospreys who might have been trying to steal their nest and EJ has also had a visitor she appeared to be familiar with - was it Henry or perhaps it was one of her previous offspring?

Henry is now not expected to make a return. He was thought to be getting on a bit so perhaps he never made the journey back.

OVS has been a busy fella...

...not only is he the sole provider of fish to EJ and the chicks, but he's been having to fight of not one, not two but THREE intruding ospreys!

Satalite tags have now been attached to the two chicks which will allow them to be followed all year round!
