One of the oldest known fossils of a bird has been discovered. Only Archaeopteryx is older than the 131million year old specimen that provides a new piece in the puzzle in the evolution of birds. Whereas Archaeopteryx was hampered by dinosaurian feature such as teeth and a bony tail, the new fossil bird has a skeletal and muscle structure more suited to powered flight.
