Conservation charities are calling for a halt to the slaughter of seabirds on Greenland. The Greenland government has agreed to allow an extra month of hunting despite a crash in seabird numbers and the complete elimination of a colony of Brünnich's guillemots. Once boasting colonies a 100,000 strong 40 years ago, the numbers of birds are now just in their thousands.
