AUGUST'S CHARITY OF THE MONTH

BUTTERFLY CONSERVATION

Butterfly Conservation is a UK charity that aims to protect Butterflies & Moths within the UK. By protecting and managing land to make it suitable for butterflies they benefit other plants and animals that share their habitat including other rare invertebrates and rare plants.

Their website contains details about UK butterfly species and there are factsheets on the species that are classed as Priority Species. Find out how to identify the different species of butterfly, read about how you can do your bit to help by making your garden a butterfly friendly place, volunteer or maybe even become a member!

Butterflies are an indicator of the overall health of our environment, helping them will be a boost to wildlife overall.

I'm joining this one when I move, no point in joining right now because then I'll have to go through the hassel of changing my address and everything Laughing

Yeah changing address is one of the annoying things about moving.

Yup, so no joining anything for me until after I move. Means I have to remember to go out and buy my BBC Wildlife Magazine too Laughing

Butterfly Conservation has had a good run Laughing

The new Charity will be up in October. Since I was away, I didn't have a chance to change it for September!

Well at least it had a good run, it's a less well known charity so it's been given some time to get it out there.

Nearly a year later...I've joined the first featured charity of the forum!

Having seen them in the news a lot with their work conserving butterflies and moths I think they're a great choice especially with my not-so-new interest in butterflies and moths Mr. Green

I've got a leaflet that gives free membership to BC for a year but it's for people in Scotland only...

They have quite a few events on...unfortunately most are some distance away from where I am!

Er, no Butterfly Conservation is a UK charity working to protect UK species of butterflies and moths. The promotion is to try and gain more members. Also, it is the Scotland branch which is offering the membership (It came with the BC Scotland newsletter not the main magazine).
