Sunday 7th June 2009

Was meant to be a family fun day at the loch but alas there were no families there! So instead we headed out to take down an electric fence on some farmland partially managed by the RSPB and the fence was right near an osprey nest! It was there to protect ground-nesting birds from the livestock grazing the land but as the key species it was meant to protect weren't there (the other ground-nesters were better at taking care of themselves) it was taken down. The ospreys kept a close eye on us as we worked and kept flying overhead. As there was three of us it meant we could get the job done quickly with minimal disturbance to the ospreys. All in all, a pretty cool day!

Tuesday 9th June 2009

Last (offically anyway..) day at one of my Bird Friendly Schools today Time flies...had a great time though this session seemed a lot shorter than the others! Fingers crossed I'll be involved in the project again next year because I have really enjoyed myself and I would highly recommend volunteering for the programme if it is in your area! I might be back into school with a couple of the reptiles at a later date and possibly for a press event related to the programme and a few other things the school has been involved in

And it was the final day at my other Biird Friendly Schools...it was great being involved in this project and I'm really looking forward to getting involved with new schools next year!
