The Amur (formally known as Siberian) Tiger and Amur leopard are two of the most endangered of all big cats. The Amur tiger is the largest of all the big cats, but only around 450-500 of these remain in the wild. Though their numbers are thought to be increasing, poaching and habitat loss is an ever-present threat to these magnificant animals. For the Amur leopard, they are hovering on the brink of extinction with only 35 individuals thought to remain in the wild. And this is where AMUR comes in - based in Russia and the UK this organisation aims to raise awareness of the plight of these big cats and contributes to conserving them in the wild.
