...you went swimming in a lake?

A lot of American parks have lakes in them for the public to use for swimming and have a great time but there's danger... Dangerous little critters can enter the human body and could kill small children and even adults... Have you heard of this?

Nope, I've never swum in a lake I'm not much of a swimmer I've heard of a few tiny fish from South America that enter the human body in a rather unpleasent way so there are probably things to look out for in other freshwater systems too.

Yeah, and they have to cut your 'region' open to get them out because they cling and tear if you try to pull them out!

As is my understanding, that is only south america. Of course their are other dangers... but I don't think they are high risk to stop swimming. Their are disease that exist in waterways but you're only likely to catch one if you swallow the water or have an open wound... and even then, I don't think it's that likely.

I have never swam in a lake and nor would I except to save a life.

it was two years ago in a loch on a retreat in Scotland a whole bunch of stripped off after a long walk and just dived in, unfortunately someone from a neighbouring house called the police because we all went in nude.
the police didn't take it very seriously- luckily!

I absolutely love swimming, however I have not swam in a lake for years now. I have been to numerous beaches though...

Not since I was a child!

no i havnt been in a lake just in the sea have paddled in rivers and streams ..A lot of lakes and rivers are no longer as clean as they were.
