Fears that a tsunami could devestate Crete and other parts of the Mediterranean coastline, like what happened in AD 365, have been given support after researchers found that the 10 metre uplift that devestated the city of Alexandria by creating a tsunami occurred in one go. An average of one devestating tsunami occurs in the Mediterranean every 100 years...but there hasn't been one in the last century and there have been too few earthquakes to accomodate the movement of the tectonic plates along the fault line suggesting that pressure is building up...
